Yes! Beautiful! I had a student some time ago. He was autistic and I learned so much from him. We began to bond through baseball. When he left the program, he reached for my hand and shook it in thanks. I felt very honoured.
A beautiful mother & child portrait. I'm so happy for you both that life is good.
My best friend used to be a teacher's aide for autistic children and has a son with Asperger's. Also we know friends with mildly autistic children. All have challenges but are lovely and loving with care.
Autism: Abnormal self-absorption, characterised by lack of response to people and actions, and limited ability to communicate..... So much for dictionary definitions; that could be describing a maudling drunk! So what's it really all about, Ellena, apart from a great deal of loving heartache?
Sabine! Thank you and wishing that you also be as fine as one can be under your circumstances. Rouchswalwe! I think that Moselito bonded with me through food and I with him through love. Marja-Leena! As many challanges as syndroms and all faced with courage and love by a great number of us. Lucy! I am sure that your questions and our resulting conversations could lead Moselito and myself to some 'oh yes' moments. Tom! I wish I had the answers. Acceptance - respect - tough love for me and.....someone told me that Moselito chose to be born with Autism so he would know how to heal it in his next life ( I whispered that only for you to hear).
The words are true and perfect and the photo radiates love. I am sure that the heartaches both you and Moselito had to endure have forged the bond between you.
It's a very invisible bond, Natalie. I get big smiles and happy 'Hi' but no hugs, no kisses. When we go to the movies he likes an empty seat between us. He needs to know that I am close but does not like physical contact. When we part he will say 'have a good week, I love you'.
