August and October sightings

Pasha, with patience and on occasion with head and camera
under a blanket, caught all visitors that came by my patio.

I'm so fortunate to live where I live, surrounded by rolling mountains and forest touching the various gates along the back yard.

A beautiful post. And I love your expression of gratitude, a timely reminder.

I've often wondered if life is supportable in Canada; have teased some of its residents on that very subject. But here's a plus I was unaware of and thanks for that.

RR!
Squirrel, Chipmunk, Butterfly and Cat came by to ask what to do to become as popular as Hummingbird.

This is Pasha (Ellena's daughter). I have to admit that I had so much fun last fall sitting and hiding at Mom's while waiting for all the creatures to appear! I could not believe the number of hummingbirds I saw. They love to guard their territory but there were 3 feeders out this year which made the birds less fierce. I watched them for so long that I could recognize their chirps as they sat in a tree and aim my big zoom lens towards them. As Mom mentioned, I also hid under a blanket with only my lens peeking out so that I could capture them in flight as they approached or left Mom's feeder. The biggest thrill came when I heard crackling in the woods and saw a deer. A simple clicking sound with my mouth was all that was needed to capture his undivided attention. Was he wondering what was protruding out of my face? Those lovely big brown eyes were looking straight at me! A couple of days later, a female came around and another couple of days later they both came together! What'ya know ... a hot date!
